Consultant, contentious tax
Hickey & Co Solicitors is building its contentious tax practice and is looking for a consultant to work on HMRC enquiries, investigations and appeals.
The position
A consultancy opportunity for a lawyer with real contentious tax experience. You will run your own matters and where possible work alongside Julian Hickey and other members of the team on the larger ones. We are interested in solicitors and barristers. Chartered tax advisers with strong enquiry and tribunal experience will also be considered for work.
What you will do
- Advise clients across the range of tax disputes and investigations
- Work on tax appeals, running some yourself and supporting other members of the team on the heavier matters
Experience and qualifications
- Qualified as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. As an indication rather than a bar, three to five years of call or post qualification experience fits the role, but we will consider anyone who can show the relevant experience however they acquired it
- Demonstrable experience of tax litigation and contentious work
- A strong record of analytical work, whether academic or professional
- Writing that is clear and precise
- Organised, methodical, and accurate under pressure
- Comfortable carrying your own files in a small practice
- Proactive, and willing to take on the breadth of work a practice of this size produces
The arrangement
Suited to someone who wants flexible work alongside other commitments.
- Consultancy
- Remote working, with use of the office at Thanet House, 231 to 232 Strand, London WC2R 1DA
